Sansa player review and best solution of putting DVD onto Sansa Fuze

IPods are great music players. But there are also other options. SanDisk has dipped its toes into the media player market and released a series of portable players. Looking at SanDisk’s product lineup and pricing structure, it is clear to see that the Sansa’s target audience would be people looking for a lower-proced media player compared to devices such as the iPod.
The Sansa Fuze is an iPod Nana competitor. On the outside, it looks like the iPod Nano; on the inside, however, it packs a lot more functionality. The robust feature list includes support for subscription services such as eMusic, Napster, and Rhapsody To Go. You can display video and images on its 1.9-inch screen. The player also has an FM tuner, a voice recorder, and microSD expandability. The Fuze performed very well on its audio and video playback.
Sansa Clip is good for people who use subscription music services, people who still listen to the radio, and people who want a small MP3 player with a screen. The Clip has been (and will continue to be) compared to the iPod Shuffle. The Clip is a perfectly capable digital audio player that can be clipped to your clothing like the Shuffle yet it has features the Shuffle doesn’t, such as an FM tuner, voice recording, subscription music compatibility, and a screen.
The Sansa View is SanDisk’s flagship flash MP3 player with the ability to playback video on its 240*320 64k color screen. What makes the Sansa View interesting is its high capacity flash memory along with memory expansion putting it in close rivalry to hard drive bassed players. The other thing going for the View is the “band for the buck” factor. It may not be a high end player, but it is one of the best values on the market.
The SanDisk Sansa e200 series combines copious features such as subscription compatibility, an FM tuner/recorder, voice recording, and photo and video playback into a compact and durable device. The user-removable battery and the Micro SD slot are nice touches, and the device has decent sound quality, processor performance, and battery life. Finally, the Sansa e200 series e280 has a maximum base capacity of 8GB, and it offers a competitive price in the high-stakes world of high-capacity flash players.

Common video and audio files can be used in Sansa players.
Sansa View: supports most audio formats, including MP3, protected and unprotected WMA, WAV, DRM-free MP3 downloads. Video compatibility with MPEG4, WMV, H.264 formats; Smooth video playback at 30 frames per second.
Sansa Clip: plays MP3, WMA, secure WMA and Audible audio file formats. Up to 15 hours of playtime with internal rechargeable battery.
Sansa e280: support WMA, MP3 audio files; AVI, WMV, ASF, MOV, MPEG, MPEG-4 format videos.
Sansa Fuze: it support audio formats including MP3, OGG, FLAC, WMA, secure WMA, WAV, Audible. For videos, the official Sansa website said it support MP3G4 videos, however, when I convert an mp4 videos and convert it into Sansa Fuze with SMC, my player can't play the video. Again I found a post in abi forum:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27460 it said that Sansa Fuze support AVI format video. I have been confused about it for a long time and haven't got the clear answer until now. Should I use mpeg4 videos or AVI format videos in Sansa Fuze?
Luckily, I have found a way to get Fuze compatible video with a DVD to Sansa converter, as this converter not only converts videos for common Sansa player, but also convert Sansa Fuze compatible videos. I can convert Fuze videos directly with it. What’s the format and video code? Who cares?
See the below:

The “Sansa Fuze MP4 Movie (*.mp4)” profile is set for Sansa Fuze videos. So what we need it do is load DVD file by press the “Open DVD”button, choose the “Sansa Fuze MP4 Movie (*.mp4)” profile and click “convert” button, then you get the Fuze compatible video.
Convert the video files into Sansa Fuze with SMC and enjoy.
Options: if you have no DVD, you can get Fuze videos from any other video formats file with Sansa converter, which also support “Sansa Fuze MP4 Movie (*.mp4)” profile, and you can convert videos into Fuze video directly.

Blackberry tour vs Nokia N97: compare them in the process of making decision

This summer there are some very strong devices out there including Blackberry Tour, Nokia N97, HTC Magic, iPhone 3G S, Palm Pre. Some may prefer iPhone 3G S or Palm Pre, but at last I have narrowed down my choices to Blackberry Tour and Nokia N97, and I’ve had a really tough time choosing between the two:

Blackberry tour:
· Supports high-speed 3G EV-DO Rev
· Non-touchscreen, a large, highly tactile, full-QWERTY keyboard for fast and precise typing
· Advanced media player for videos, pictures and music, a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack and support for the Bluetooth Stereo Audio Profile (A2DP/AVCRP)
· 256MB Flash memory, support cards of up to 16GB
· Built-in GPS with support for geotagging, BlackBerry Maps
· Allowing users to edit Microsoft(R) Word, Excel and PowerPoint files directly on the handset
· Easy mobile access to Facebook(R), MySpace and Flickr(R), as well as popular instant messaging services including BlackBerry Messenger, Yahoo! IM, AIM(R), Google Talk and Windows Live Messenger
· Support for BlackBerry App World, as well as third-party mobile applications
· BlackBerry Internet Service allows access to up to 10 supported personal and corporate email accounts
· No Wi-Fi, it is said to be added in the future.

Nokia N97:
· Sliding QWERTY keypad and touchscreen display
· Memory – 32GB Internal memory, 128 MB RAM, microSD up to 16GB
· Camera – 5 MP (Carl Zeiss optics)
· OS – Symbian
· Battery – 6.6 hours talk-time and 430 hours standby
· Radio – Stereo FM radio with RDS, Visual radio; FM transmitter
· Widescreen – 16:9, 3.5in TFT, 640 x 360 pixels
· 802.11b/g; USB; Bluetooth with A2DP; GPS with A-GPS
· 3.5mm audio jack
· Handwriting Recognition
· A little expensive, at about $650

That’s the simple information I have got about the two phones. Here I should explain my smartphone requirements. I’m looking for a device to serve as my personal telephone, media player, mini computer and business assistant. For personal telephone, it is used for daily contact, to make calls and receive calls. Both Blackberry tour and Nokia N97 were easy to use and very convenient to dial a number.

For multimedia, both of them are advanced media player for videos, music and pictures. Blackberry tour supports video formats including MPEG4, H.263, H.264 (encoding and decoding 30fps), WMV and audio format including MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA. Nokia N97 can play mp4 and 3gp videos with up to 640*360 pixels resolution. Personally I prefer to watch movies with Blackberry tour. In the meantime I go to Nidesoft Inc to get programs Nidesoft Blackberry Converter Suite, which rip DVDs and videos into Blackberry-friendly files. Just copy the converted file to memory card, pop it into phone’s card slot, and enjoy. Or use program Nidesoft Nokia video converter if you would like to choose N97 as media player.

As for connectivity, the Nokia N97 looks like a good all-rounder, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an Infrared port. The BlackBerry Tour features Bluetooth as well, (with A2DP) but is somehow lacking Wi-Fi (just like the much-derided BlackBerry Storm). Although the rumor said that the Blackberry Storm 2 will have Wi-Fi. N97 also features an FM radio, which the Tour doesn't.

If you always travel around for work then Blackberry can be a wonderful assistant. The BlackBerry Tour smartphone provides the industry's leading mobile solution for email, messaging (IM, SMS, MMS) and social networking together with built-in GPS. I like type emails and message with the full-QWERTY keyboards fast and easily. N97 also have GPS and can send emails, but the business-oriented Blackberry tour is better for business assistant.

In the end, I make up my decision. The Blackberry tour won out, it made the most sense to me as media player and business assistant. But as I’ve noted the Nokia N97 was also pretty impressive and could be a viable option for many others.

Thought at Walkman's 30th birthday: why did iPod dominate the media market nowadays?

Sony Walkman has turned 30 years old today. Thirty years ago, the device was revolutionary changed the way people listened to music. Sony sold 30,000 Walkmans in the first two months after its launch, and 50 million within a decade. It created the portable media player market. Three decades on, however, Sony is struggling against rivals such as Apple, which has enjoyed immense success with its iPod music player. Apple iPod might be the market leader today. While people celebrate Walkman’s 30th birthday, I wonder what makes iPod became dominance in the media player market instead of the original Sony Walkman?

Sony Company has always been developing its video and audio products. Sony Walkman’s latest flagship model, the NW-X1060, packs noise canceling, a bright touch screen display, mobile TV, and the ability to surf the Internet With the storage of 32GB, it can hold 8,000 songs (128kbps mp3) or 120h video playback (at 384kbps). It support all major file types includes MP3, MP4, WMA, AAC, Linear PCM, AVC, WMV, JPEG.
The Sony PSP Go will come in fall of this year. It is a much smaller, sexier device that drops the UMD, adds 16GB of flash RAM and Bluetooth, and compresses the older PSP’s brick-like form factor to a narrower, sleeker size and shape. It’s got a huge amount of storage space for you to store music, videos and games. The files support MPEG-4, AVI video format and MP3 audio format.
Besides the multimedia player, Sony’s phone also has powerful multimedia function. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is convergence of multimedia entertainment and mobile web communication. It has a 3.0 inches TFT touchscreen with shades of 65K internal screen colours and gives a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This let the users to play games and watch video clips on its wide screen easily. The video resolution support 640x480 pixels and video format support MPEG-4. The music format support: MP3, AAC, AAC+, eACC+, WMA (including protected WMA).
By the way, a lot of people don’t know where to get videos and songs when they take a Sony multimedia device. Some may purchase music and movies online. If you still don’t know where to get or don’t want to buy online, you may use Nidesoft DVD to Sony Xperia Converter to convert DVD files into your Sony device, or use Nidesoft Sony Xperia Converter to convert all other video files into Sony device. It can be used for all Sony products.

After look into Sony product, let’s turn our attention to iPod. Apple first released the original iPod in late 2001, and it was quickly destined to be a huge success. It was exactly what people wanted. It has simple interface, large capacity, fashionable, and visually attractive.

Simple Interface - The Apple iPod has an extremely simple interface, needing only a few seconds of use to be able to master it. It is very easy to use.

Large capacity - The current regular iPod has 8GB or 16GB capacity. It can holds large amount of songs and movies, enable you to enjoy them.

It's visually attractive – The appearance of iPod was fashionable. They made it look very sexy, appealing to just about everyone, and is now extremely recognizable.

Windows and Mac compatibility
- When they crossed over to the windows market, they more than tripled their market, literally reaching anyone that owned a computer.

These are the things that really make the Apple iPod dominate the mobile MP3 player market, reaching over 70% of the market share. Apple never simply wanted to dominate the market with one product though, they're still releasing new products at an alarming rate, each of which are doing extremely well. From iPod Mini to iPod Shuffle, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, from first generation to second generation, third generation. The Apple iPod will never stop giving us surprise by improving its iPod products, and I think that is the most important reason why iPod lead the media player market.

HTC Magic Review - The HTC Google G2 Phone is Just Magic

The HTC Google G2 Phone is the latest entrant into the android touch screen smart phone line up of HTC. As it is a “special” one: this phone has not yet been released in the United States, and has only a very limited release internationally, I have great interest of full disclosure to let you know this mobile phone. The HTC Google G2 Phone is known internationally as the HTC Magic, and it is a pretty snazzy phone.

Hardware
The HTC Magic smart phone Google G2 is enclosed in a cool white plastic case. It has a slightly protruding bottom that does not hinder the sleekness of its design in any way. A wide 3.2-inch touch screen sprawls on the face of the phone. The LCD TFT screen is vibrant and colorful with its high HVGA 320X480 pixel resolution. The screen attracts fingerprints but this is a commonly found blip in most touch screen phones in the market today. There is also a trackball for navigation. The absence of a physical QWERTY keyboard on this wholly touch screen operated phone has helped the phone knock off some of its weight and appear slimmer.
Software
The alluring wrapping of the HTC Magic is augmented by the android software platform that it uses as its brain. This software ensures fast and high performance of applications of the phone. The superior quality android operating system also allows you to add new applications and games to your HTC Magic smart phone through the android market by exploring options like ‘shopping’, ‘arcade’, ‘social’ and ‘travel’.
Android software in the mobile phone also implies more customization- users can tailor the handset to meet their specific needs by swapping the home screen, applications or even the dialer style. The Android software also lets you access third party applications and not just the core applications and data on the phone. This makes the HTC Magic more open.
The phone has integrations with Google applications. Google Talk, G mail, Google search, Google calendar are some of the applications accessible via the HTC Magic. Google Street view has been integrated with the phone’s mapping applications making it possible to view streets virtually to find out the way. The phone’s GPS facility supports efficacious working of maps.
Other interesting features:
The HTC Magic has a 3.2 Mega pixel auto focus enabled camera for the masterpiece photograph.. Its powerful video recording capabilities allows you to post videos directly on You Tube or share videos with friends via e-mail or MMS. It is capable of playing media files including videos and audio files. The video looks perfect with the 480x320 pixels screen and the music sounds beautiful. It supports only video formats like MP4 and 3GP which is slightly less when compared to the current standards of android mobiles. That’s doesn’t matter, third party software like Nidesoft DVD to Mobile Converter can convert DVD videos to HTC Magic video and Nidesoft Video Converter can convert all other formats video to HTC Magic video. It also supports rang of audio files including MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV and OGG, and the third party software can also be used for audio files.

The phone has high performance Internet mettle due to the presence of HSDPA with a speed of 7.2 Mbps and Wi Fi support. Fast downloads make your mobile Internet experience on the HTC Magic a joy. Stereo Blue tooth connectivity is also present in the phone.
The battery life of HTC G2 is much longer than HTC G1. The stand by time is 660 hours for WCDMA and 420 hours for GSM. The talk time is 400 minutes for WCDMA and 450 minutes for GSM. The 1340 mAh Lithium-ion battery is rechargeable.
Conclusion
Based on what I’ve seen, the HTC Magic seems like a really solid device. We like the Magic, maybe even love it a little bit. But it is a little disappointed at its price of about 6oo dollars, much higher than the new iPhone 3G S and the new Palm Pre.

iPhone 3G S vs. iphone 3G: the new iPhone looks promising

The competition in the mobile phone world will never stop. On June 6th Palm have published its new competitive phone Palm Pre. Then on June 8, Apple has unveiled new iPhone at WWDC - the iPhone 3G S. The price of iPhone 3G 3.0 has slow down to 99 dollars and the rumor said that new iPhone will sell at 199 dollars of 16GB and 299 dollars of 32GB. Besides the price strategy, the new iPhone will largely improve its function as well as bring many new features to compete with Palm Pre. Then let’s have a close look at the new iPhone 3G S: How does the new iPhone improved compare with the original iPhone 3G 3.0?

Appearance: unchanged
From the picture we can found that there is not much change on iPhone’s appearance.

Battery life: longer
The new iPhone battery life last longer than the original iPhone 3G: for talk time, iPhone 3G can last up to 10 hours on 2G and iPhone 3G S is 2 hours longer; On Internet use, iPhone 3G can last up to 6 hours on Wi-Fi, and iPhone 3G S can last 9 hours on Wi-Fi; For audio playback iPhone 3G S can last up to 30 hours while iPhone 3.0 24 hours, and for video playback, iPhone 3G S can last up to 10 hours, 3 hours longer than iPhone 3G.

Storage capacity: bigger
The rumors said the capacity of new iPhone would be bumped to 16GB and 32GB. Much bigger than the 8GB of iPhone 3G,

The Speed: Faster
Apple is promising faster performance — the "S" in 3G S signifies "speed." Apple claims it'll render Web pages and launch applications twice as fast on average as the iPhone 3G. So the new iPhone would be faster to use.

New features of the new iPhone:
iPhone 3G S Camera
With 3 Megapixel, auto-focus camera the new iPhone will allow you to tap on the part of the photo you want to focus, and it will automatically do so. It will also be adding the ability to automatically handle exposure, white balance and better low-light sensitivity. If you want to get close to a photo subject, say up to 10cm away, the new camera will also have an auto-macro.
iPhone 3G S Compass
With the new iPhone you may always be able to find north, and if you double-tap the screen, it will show you your current orientation, even in the Maps app.
iPhone 3G S Voice Control
Why bother with touching your phone when you can just voice command it? Hold down the home button for a second and you will be prompted to start issuing voice commands which can include making calls, asking your device what song is playing, telling it to find similar songs and so on.

More multimedia functions:
Record video
The new iPhone camera is going to be able to shoot video! The new feature will allow you to record at 30 frames per second (fps) at VGA resolution with audio, auto-focus, auto-white balance and auto-exposure.

Edit video on the go
With the new iPhone you needn’t to wait until you’re at your computer to start editing your mobile movies. You may trim your footage right on iPhone. Just drag to select start and end points on a filmstrip.

Audio playback
iPhone 3G S supports audio formats: AAC, Protected AAC, MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV
Video playback
As video files, the iPhone 3G S supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats.
If you haven’t H.264 or MPEG-4 videos on your computer, you may use Nidesoft DVD to iPhone Converter to convert DVD files into iPhone 3G S compatible formats or use Nidesoft iPhone video converter to convert all other video files into iPhone 3G S, just follow the step by step guide.
Share video anywhere
With the new iPhone 3G S, you may send your video via MMS, or select video from the Camera Roll and let iPhone add it to a new email message. You may also publish videos to YouTube to share your videos.

So, after the comparison, the new iPhone 3G S seems more promising than the iPhone 3.0 to hit the new Palm Pre. Of course, nobody knows the result before it is published, let’s just wait for its official release date of June 19th.

iPhone 3.0 vs. Palm Pre: which one would you want to get?

iPhone or Palm Pre?
Sprint, Palm Pre’s exclusive carrier announced that Palm Pre would be launched on June 6. Then this summer that’s the question many would-be-smart phone purchasers just might ask themselves. Both have their pros and cons. The iPhone has a huge profile and market presence, but the Pre has the old-school Palm faithful who have been waiting a long time for their Next Big Thing. The iPhone has massive channels and even Sprint admits they won’t be advertising the Palm Pre much due to low initial supply. But those most likely to want the Palm Pre already know it’s coming, where to get, and may well be reading this while already standing in line.
But what about the consumer on the edge? The consumer who has an older iPhone or Palm, or the one who’s about to move up from a feature phone for the first time. What about the dreaded “undecided”? This article is for them. Now let’s get it on.

Display

IPhone: beautiful, large (3.5 inch diagonal), high-resolution (480x320 screen) multi-touch display.
Palm Pre: Beautiful, large (3.1 inch diagonal), high-resolution (480x320 screen). The screen is not as large as the iPhone (0.4 inch smaller) but this is balanced against other hardware features such as the removable battery and sliding keyboard further below.
Advantage: Tie
Keyboard
Palm Pre has a physical, hardware-based QWERTY keyboard while the iPhone has a virtual, software-based keyboard that can be QWERTY (or anything else).
For those who need to feel those keys, the Palm Pre is the obvious choice. However, the Pre’s keyboard is reportedly somewhere between a Treo Pro and a Palm Centro: softer, more gummy keys with a narrow width overall. It might not be to everyone’s liking. That said, at least the Pre has one, and it’s a slider to boot, which means if you don’t need it, you can just tuck it away back under the screen where it came from.
The iPhone, can draw any kind of keyboard it wants. So if you need to type occasionally (or often) in Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, or most any language, you can easily switch between those exact keyboards. You can also automatically be presented with web-optimized, or video, audio — any task at all — specific keyboards.
The iPhone is an excellent touch screen phone, no doubt. But for heavy texters and e-mail addicts, the lack of a physical keyboard can be annoying. Now Palm Pre combined a touch screen and keyboard, pleasing both touch screen and keyboard fans. So Palm Pre wins.
Advantage: Palm Pre

Network
In the US — which is the only country with initial availability — Sprint has exclusive rights to the Palm Pre, much as AT&T has a lock on the iPhone. When you choose mobile phone, also make a choice between the carriers. There are two factors to consider:
1. AT&T is a GSM network, which means you can theoretically pop out your SIM card and put it in another mobile phone. It is great in emergencies, and if you travel and don’t want to deal with roaming charges. Sprint is CDMA, so any phone switches involves a call to your carrier at the very least.
2. Sprint doesn’t currently allow simultaneous voice and data. This means if you’re talking on the Palm Pre, you can’t use the web or email, and vice versa. If you’re using an iPhone on AT&T’s EDGE service, you’ll have the same problem, but if you’re on 3G, there are no worries at all. For the Palm Pre, you’d have to switch to Wi-Fi to do that.
Again, for me, using voice and data at the same time has become a must. Looking up information while out and about on a call is a frequent occurrence. If you’re not accustomed to it, you may not miss it, but once you are, it’s hard to go back.
Advantage: iPhone

Applications
Installing new applications on the iPhone is a complete joy. It’s ultra simple and quick – an absolutely superb experience than virtually nobody has matched today. With 15,000+ apps now available there is something here for everybody and although there is a lot of rubbish there are also many superb applications.
Palm has already confirmed that it will create a full App Catalog – one that will presumably have the same functionality and ease-of-use as Apple’s App Store. Though maybe there will not (initially at least) be as many apps available for the iPhone as for the Palm Pre.
Advantage: Tie

Multimedia
For Palm Pre, it offers a 3-megapixel camera. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to snap any photos, but early reports say that the quality is pretty good. Disappointingly, the camera won't have video recording capabilities at this time, but those could be added in the future. In terms of music and movie, it is reported that the music sounds very beautiful, also the movie looks perfect with the 320*480 pixels screen. However Palm Pre can only play MPEG-4, H.263, H.264 videos and MP3, AAC, AAC+, AMR, QCELP, WAV audio files. What if you have large music or video collections you want to carry around with you on your mobile? I have got third part software to do this admire job: use Nidesoft DVD to Palm Converter to convert DVD collections into Palm Pre and Nidesoft Video Converter to convert video or music collections into Palm Pre.
As far as iPhone, there’s no doubt that iPhone is wonderful music mobile phone. Listening to music, viewing photos and watching movies/videos is just “something else” on the iPhone. IPhone can play MPEG-4 videos with resolution of 640 *480, up to 160 Kbps. Also it supports audio formats including AAC (16 to 320 kbps), MP3 (16 to 320 kbps), and WAV. With its beautiful 3.5-inch wide screen display and Multi-Touch controls, iPhone is an amazing iPod. Watch movies and TV shows in wide screen, iPhone brings you a video experience unlike any other portable device.
Advantage: Tie

Conclusion
So there you have it. Two companies that both pride themselves on their high-skill products. One who’s Newton spawned an industry that the other is Pilot defined and dominated, went on to converge with the Treo only to fall behind and get eclipsed by the iPhone, and is now poised to come back with the Pre. Apple is going on to the third version of their smart phone line while Palm is introducing the first version of their third act.
If it seems like the only real deciding factors are where you live and work, what you want to do, and how you prefer to do it, well — yeah. That’s it.
Bottom line, the competition between iPhone and Pre is good for Apple and Palm — it keeps them on their toes and on top of their games — and it’s better for us. We’re lucky to live in a time and place where we have such increasingly awesome mobile options to choose between.
Come this summer, we’ll have a few more choices as well. Which one will be yours?

Blackberry Storm VS iPhone

There is no doubt that the iPhone has changed the smartphone world and forced cellphone manufacturers to sit back and rethink how they create new devices and features and how they can compete. Nokia recently announced a very compelling entertainment-focused iPhone rival and Blackberry have launche an stronger competitor - BlackBerry Storm. so which of them is much better? Let's make a comparision.

Screen
The BlackBerry Storm features a high-resolution 360 x 480 touchscreen, which gives it a 4:3 aspect ratio akin to older TVs, versus the iPhone 3G's 320 x 480 touchscreen which is a 3:2 ratio. Not much to choose between the two, though.
Keyboard
The Storm offers several virtual keyboard options, including standard QWERTY in landscape mode and SureType in portrait mode
The iPhone offers several keypads (QWERTY, numeric, symbols) in both landscape and portrait modes.
Camera
The BlackBerry Storm features a modest 3.2 megapixel camera, still beating the iPhone's two megapixel affair. Additionally, it supports video recording out of the box.
Navigation
The Storm uses BlackBerry Maps and offers Touch Screen Navigation. The iPhone features Google Maps and navigation.
Communications
Both units handle 3G where available, have GPS and Bluetooth. The Storm's Bluetooth implementation is better than the iPhone's.
Web Browsing
Both units feature web browsers, though as far as I'm aware exact information about the Storm's software isn't yet public. Various forums have suggested it's based on "WebKit", which is what Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome (among others) are based on.
Operating System
The Storm appears to be running BlackBerry OS 4.7, whereas the iPhone runs OS X.
Storage
The Storm features 1GB of internal memory, 128MB of Flash memory, and support for microSD expansion cards up to 16GB. The storage of iPhone is 16 GB, but no expansion.
Multimedia
We all know that iPhone 3G is the best iPod Apple has ever created. iPhone 3G supports a wide range of audio formats including AAC, MP3, WAV and video format MPEG-4 , while the Storm pipping the iPhone with WMA and WMA ProPlus audio formats. And video formats, the Storm also able to handle WMA files. The music and video playback experience of iPhone is awesome. We can image that the experience of enjoy video and music with Strom is more wonderful.

Blackberry video conversion, how to make best settings and convert step by step

I have got a Blackberry Storm as my birthday present and I was deeply in love with the gorgeous screen. I can’t wait to fill the 8gb card with videos to show off to all my friends. Before that I have tried watching a movie on my blackberry that I had already ripped with iPhone/iPod touch settings, The video works but the file size is unnecessarily large and the audio didn't match up with the video well when playing on the Blackberry. I collect information here and there and at last get the problem solves. So below is the details shared here.

Output video format: mp4
Output audio format: mp3

Video:
Video Size/resolution: 480x320
Video Bitrate: 1200kbps

Audio:
Audio Bitrate: 64kbps
Channels: 2 channels

Now if you have no idea what to do with that, then here are some simple instructions for you.

First you need a third-part software. I use Nidesoft program, probably the best Blackberry converter available. I download from its official website: Nidesoft ©.
Note: the program you downloaded on nidesoft is free trial version, you are limited to creating video files that are a maximum of 2 minutes long.
In order to convert videos longer than that, you will need to purchase the software with 25 dollars, or download the full version somewhere on google.com

Then if you convert videos from DVD, you should use Nidesoft DVD to Blackberry Converter and follow the step-by-step ways.
Step 1: Launch the program; Insert the DVD disc into the DVD Drive. Click the “Open DVD” button, browse your computer, find the DVD folder of the movie, open it, select some titles and chapters you want or you may select the whole video to convert.

Step 2: make settings: click “profile” drop-down list to select “BlackBerry MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)” format, click “Settings” to set video size and bitrate. If you want to combine two or several titles into one, you may select titles and click blank box before “Merge into one file” to merge them together.

Step 3: click “convert” button to convert videos. Then it will be completed in few minutes.

However, if you convert from other videos, you should use Nidesoft Blackberry video converter with the following ways.
Step 1: Launch the program and Click "Add" button to load source video files to be converted:

Step 2: make settings: click “format” drop list to select “Blackberry MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)” as output video format. Set your video size and quality under the preview window.

Step 3: Click "Convert" button to start to convert video format.
After the file is converted, just transfer the file to the videos folder on your BlackBerry through the Desktop Manager and enjoy your newly created video. By the way, the file converted can not only used on Blackberry Storm, but also other Blackberry phones such as Blackberry Pearl, Bold, curve.

Ok, until now you have got the whole idea of how to do with it. But you may encounter some other problems when doing it. Below are my problems and solutions I have collected after long time practice, list here to share with you.

I think there's a virus in this Program!!??

There's no virus in Nidesoft. One person reported being infected by Backdoor.Graybird, but if you got it from the site I linked to in my post it did not come with the download. If you downloaded it from somewhere else on the web then I am not sure. Probably malware/spamers have uploaded it to phishing sites to snag people. Always make sure you download things from their original website, or from a trusted location like download.com, and always run antivirus and scan stuff you are installing.

The higher the resolution, the better the video quality?
Not necessarily at all. If you’re converting a video that is 640×480 and convert it to the same 640×480 resolution then all you’re leaving is more work for your phone. I understand the login behind it, the pixels get compressed and shop up more clear and sharper. But if you compress these pixels in the conversion process wouldn’t the same thing happen? So why not just convert straight to a 480×320 and save your Storm the trouble?

The higher the bitrate, the better the quality?

Yes, that is true. However, the higher the bitrate, the larger your video files. So it is not necessary to raise your bitrate very high when you feel your video quality is fine. I have spent hours working different settings and the best results have hovered around 1200 kbps.

Where do I find the files?

You may change the output directory by press "browse" button, or the destination will be set automatically at C:\temp, you may press “open” to find the files.

Can I get ringtones into my Blackberry with the above idea?

Yes, you can. You may get ringtones in that way both from DVD and video. But you need to make a little different settings. As Blackberry audio support .mp3 format, you need to select “Blackberry MP3 Music (*.mp3)” as the output file format. Then drag the converted file into ringtones folder in your memory card.

I'm trying to convert a movie purchased from itunes but the Nidesoft software gives me an error. When I view the details of the error it tells me not enough space on my drive. I have plenty of space. Now when I tried it with a movie (same extension .m4v) that was ripped in the past, it works. Any suggestions??
Meet DRM.
Itunes store video files are encoded with fairplay digital rights management that means they will only play on Itunes, Ipod, or AppleTV. I have found another thread to solve this problem, go to: http://forums.crackberry.com/f135/howto-put-drm-protected-files-your-storm-pics-118585/

Why are there black bars on my video?
Even though it looks "widescreen" the storm is native 4:3 not 16:9. So unless you want to stretch everybody and make them tall and skinny you will still have the black bars.

Is there a way to make it fullscreen without the black bars?

Yes, you can crop the file when you do the transcode, but I haven't done it with Nidesoft Blackberry video converter yet. I'll post it when I figure it out.

Ok, that is my details and I would keep updating my thread when got more solutions.
